Career guidance
Preparing young people with SEND to take the next steps on their career journey.
My skills, my future.
How do we plan individual career support?
We use the 8 ‘Gatsby Benchmarks’ to plan how to best support individual students with career access and decision making.
Community learning
Community learning from KS3 onwards contributes towards preparing students to access their local community and engage in a variety of new experiences and local amenities. This supports students to;
- learn how to be part of wider community beyond school and home
- learn how to be safe in the community (stranger danger, road safety, etc.
Activities can include:
- visits to possible employers in the community
- visits to possible future education settings
- visits to possible leisure facilities
- practicing skills such as exchanging money for goods, finding items from their shopping list in the shops
- using their communication skills and/or aids to interact with less familiar adults to ask for help
- reading labels in shops, self scanning, packing shopping bags.
Work related learning and training
KS4 and 6th form students can take part in a number of tasks around school such as:
- preparing the hall for assemblies
