Aims of the School

Our focus at Moorcroft is to enable our students to develop their independence.

We see all aspects of school life as an opportunity to develop life skills, social skills and communication.

"At Moorcroft we will meet the needs of every young person who comes through our door."

Andrew Sanders, Regional Director

Prepared for their next step
Proud of all their achievements
Able to flourish through their activities & resources
Praised and rewarded for all they do

A positive learning environment

Ten Golden Rules

At Moorcroft we use Ten Golden Rules to promote a positive learning environment in which students can learn and develop to their full potential, and which can be seen in all of our interactions between students and staff:

  • Treat me with respect and dignity

  • Talk to me, not about me

  • Give me time to respond and interact in my own way

  • Listen to what I have to say

  • Let me know what is going to happen

  • Telling me what I'm good at builds my confidence

  • Stay calm with me, even if I do not stay calm myself

  • Try to understand me. I can't always explain my feelings

  • Allow me to make choices and decisions for myself

  • Help me to stay safe
